HBIS XuanHua Iron and Steel Group, in collaboration with Primetals Technologies, has commissioned a state-of-the-art slab casting unit for low-carbon steel production in Xuanhua District. The unit, which has an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons, has started operating two weeks ahead of schedule, demonstrating the effectiveness of the project.
The new slab casting unit offers advanced features suitable for the production of a wide range of steel types, including stainless steel. Equipped with modern technology, the unit enhances the surface quality of the produced steel and ensures operational efficiency. Additionally, systems designed to detect potential issues during the production process allow for proactive interventions, improving safety and ensuring smoother operations.
The automation system provided by Primetals Technologies enables precise control of the production process. This system continuously monitors key parameters such as temperature, ensuring that production settings are optimized. Moreover, it incorporates technologies that increase production efficiency and minimize waste, allowing for continuous monitoring and improvement of product quality.
HBIS XuanHua’s facility is the world’s first industrial-scale hydrogen-based iron and steel production plant. The slab casting unit completes the production chain, including the direct reduced iron plant and electric steel production facilities, providing nearly zero-carbon steel for industries such as automotive.
