H2 Green Steel receives approval for €265 million grant from Sweden

At its plant in Boden, the company aims to produce direct reduction iron using renewable hydrogen with 700 MW electrolysers. This is a step that will enable almost zero-emission steel production in European markets.

This large-scale project of H2 Green Steel attracted the attention of Demeter, a major player in the field of energy and ecological transition. Demeter decided to invest in H2 Green Steel through the Climate Infrastructure Fund together with the private investment vehicle Hy24. This reflects Demeter's strategic investment approach, which focuses on the development of innovative start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises and infrastructure projects.

H2 Green Steel's large debt and equity financing and the donations it has received provide an important financial foundation for the company to strengthen its leadership in the field of green steelmaking. Sources see this as a promising step towards zero-emission steel production that contributes to carbon reduction targets in Europe.
