Japan's Kobe Steel (Kobelco) has announced that it has agreed to partner with Luxembourg-based engineering firm Paul Wurth to build a hydrogen-powered DRI plant for Germany's Thyssenkrupp. At the end of the facility, the annual production is expected to reach 2.5 million tons.
The power plant was originally planned to use reclaimed natural gas containing 50% or more hydrogen and to use 100% hydrogen when the amount was sufficient.
