Al Sharif emphasized the impact of steel production on the environment, noting that this global trend has increased the demand for investments in carbon reduction. He also proudly announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will take important steps in this area next month.
Al Sharif said that 1.7% carbon emissions are produced from one ton of iron ore to make steel by the producer, stressing that steel producers have a great impact on the environment. Al Sharif emphasized the importance of efforts on green energy and pointed out that expectations and budget will also be affected in this process.
In terms of consumption, Al Sharif stated that 0.4 tons of carbon emissions are emitted from 400 kg of steel. By addressing this balance between steel production and consumption, he emphasized the importance of steering the environmental impact of the steel industry in a more sustainable direction.
