Global Steel Summit event organizers aim to make it the world's largest networking and comprehensive information gathering event for years to come.
The Global Steel Summit took place in Dubai on 23 and 24 November 2023 with the participation of steel industry raw material (iron ore/scrap/coal) suppliers, steel mills, well-known steel traders, steel trade financiers and major buyers from all over the world.
Intensive networking took place between all participants on the conference breaks. Speakers from Turkey addressed the following topics;
Mr. Selçuk Yılmaz, Deputy General Manager of Yıldız Demir Çelik, in his presentation focusing on the global crude steel production growth rates in September 2023, evaluated the situation in the Turkish steel market and emphasized the challenges in the sector.
In his speech at the Global Steel Summit panel, Yasin Kanbur, Middle East Regional Director of CIEC Group, emphasized that the demand for steel in the Middle East will increase significantly, with a growth expectation of 1.7% in the sector in 2024.
Tureyyen pointed out that countries' efforts to keep their steel industries in a secure position include measures such as quotas, export restrictions and import restrictions. However, he emphasized that despite these challenges, high quality products are important and the industry should move in this direction.
The majority of participants came from China, India, Türkiye, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.
