The International Energy Agency's (IEA) Renewable Energy Market Report has been published.
55.2 gigawatts of renewable energy installations, which are expected to refresh the world's record with 290 gigawatts this year, will come from solar energy.
The remaining capacity is expected to come from other renewable sources.
A PERIOD OF INCREASED METAL PRICES USED IN TURBINE PRODUCTION
The record capacity increase in renewable energy comes at a time when the prices of basic metals used in solar panel and wind turbine production are increasing.
If commodity prices remain high until the end of the year, there is a risk that wind energy investment costs will return to their 2015 level, and solar energy gains in the last 3 years will be erased.
It is calculated that the total capacity to be activated this year in solar energy will increase by 17 percent compared to last year.
Despite this, in order to achieve zero emission targets within the scope of combating climate change, renewable resources must be used extensively in all sectors, in addition to electricity generation.
RENEWABLE RESOURCES HAVE REACHED 95% OF THE INCREASE IN GLOBAL ELECTRICITY CAPACITY
In this period, 95 percent of the increase in global electricity capacity will come from renewable sources, while more than half of this amount will come from solar energy.
China is expected to maintain its leading position in global renewable energy installations, reaching 1200 gigawatts of wind and solar capacity by 2026.
India, on the other hand, is estimated to have the fastest rate of renewable capacity growth among major economies in the next 5 years. It is predicted that 80 percent of the renewable energy capacity to be installed by 2026, together with Europe and the USA, will occur in these 4 markets.
