The International Energy Agency (IEA) stated that global coal consumption will reach a record level, exceeding 8 billion tons, and will remain at a similar level in the next few years without a low carbon economy.
Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, gas prices were kept high and gas supply was interrupted.
As a result, some countries will choose to use cheaper coal. In addition, heat waves and drought in some regions increased the demand for electricity.
