Germany's scrap metal imports and exports decreased

According to the data, Germany's ferrous scrap metal imports decreased by 30% y-o-y to 1.4 million tonnes in the first five months of this year.

Scrap exports, on the other hand, decreased by 14% y-o-y to 3.1 million tonnes.

In 2022, Germany's scrap imports decreased by 12% y-o-y to 4.3 million tonnes and exports by 14% y-o-y to 7.7 million tonnes, reaching the lowest level since the economic and financial crisis in 2009.
