Germany has scaled back its commercial exchanges with İran, creating an opportunity for other European countries such as Holland, Spain, Italy, and France to increase their exports to Iran by significant percentages ranging from 13 to 100%.
According to recent statistics from Eurostat, the total trade between Iran and the 27 member states of the European Union has reached 1.869 billion euros in the first five months of this year. However, trade between Iran and the European Union has experienced a 10% decline in the months of January to May 2023 compared to the same period the previous year. In the first five months of 2022, the trade value between the two sides amounted to 2.073 billion euros.
Additionally, EU exports to Iran in the fifth month of 2023 have decreased by 6%. The cumulative exports to Iran in the first five months of this year have reached 1.517 billion euros. In the corresponding period of the previous year, European countries had exported goods worth 1.610 billion euros to Iran.
Furthermore, EU imports from Iran in the first five months of 2023 have seen a notable decline of 24%. The European Union's imports from Iran during the months of January to May this year amounted to 352 million euros, while in the same period of 2022, imports from Iran totaled 463 million euros.
