Gerdau, the Brazilian steelmaker, recently announced that it will restart its steel production operations in Araucária, Paraná.
After being inactive since 2014, the plant, which has an annual capacity of 420,000 tons of crude steel, has resumed its activities with an investment of approximately 55 million Brazilian reals.
The volume of production will be adjusted to the domestic market's evolution, mainly in the civil construction, infrastructure, and industry sectors. As a result, the resumption of production is expected to generate around 300 new direct and indirect jobs.
