French steel production increased by 91.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, recording the highest level in the last two years. Between January and November, French metallurgists reported a total of 9.68 million tons of steel production, a decrease of 14.8% compared to the same period last year.
In 11 months, the average monthly steel production in France was 880.45 thousand tons, up 14.79% compared to the previous year, while in the same period of 2022, this amount was 1.03 million tons. By the end of 2022, France had seen its steel industry production fall by 26% annually to 12.12 million tons, ranking 16th in WorldSteel's ranking of global steelmakers.
French metallurgical mills doubled their steel production in November 2023, by a considerable difference compared to the previous month, reaching 1.58 million tons, according to the data.
