Fortescue Metals Group, the Australian company that continues to mine and operate the Pilbara mine, will have the Western Australian government impose strict border controls on March 23 to prevent the spread of the outbreak. A 14-day quarantine will be imposed on all staff entering Western Australia.
The company said it will work closely with the government to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and will resume iron ore shipping, mining and processing activities in Port Hedland.
