Fortescue Future Industries to work with Kazakhstan

Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan have joined forces to investigate the potential delivery of renewable energy projects and green hydrogen production in Kazakhstan.

Fortescue Future Industries to work with Kazakhstan
Fortescue Future Industries and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan have agreed to work together to unlock green energy potentials, signing a Framework Agreement to explore potential projects for renewable energy sources and green hydrogen production in various regions of Kazakhstan, including Atyrau and Mangistau, which are rich in water and wind resources.
The agreement is expected to further strengthen the close friendship between Fortescue and Kazakhstan and help the government achieve the country's goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 15% below 1990 levels by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
Fortescue Future Industries considers Kazakhstan to have significant wind and solar capacity.
Kazakhstan generates more than 70 percent of its electricity from coal, but aims to provide half of the other resources by 2050.
Dr Forrest said the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan is well positioned to join Fortescue Future Industries on the green industrial revolution.
