The company said that trade tensions could bring Chinese-made steel products to Vietnam cheaper and that steel prices would also be under pressure. Although Vietnam is expected to benefit from the trade war, the steelmaker expressed concerns that the industry could suffer.
The FHS facility currently has a crude steel production capacity of around 7 million tons. The company, which plans to increase its capacity by more than 10 million tons per year by building another blast furnace in 2020 or later, plans to increase it to 22.5 million tons in the future.
