According to the data of the Ministry of Commerce, exports in April amounted to 19.3 billion dollars with a limited change compared to the same period of the previous year.
On the other hand, imports increased by 4.2 percent to 29.2 billion dollars in the same period.
Following these data, the foreign trade deficit increased by 13.3 percent to 9.9 billion dollars. The export-import coverage ratio decreased by 2.7 points to 66.1 percent.
Foreign trade deficit decreased by 30.5% in January-April period
In the first four months of 2024, exports increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same period of 2023, reaching 82.9 billion dollars.
During this period, imports decreased by 8.9 percent compared to the same period of 2023, falling to 113.1 billion dollars.
While the foreign trade deficit was 43.5 billion dollars in the January-April period of 2023, it decreased by 30.5 percent to 30.2 billion dollars in the January-April period of 2024.
While the export-import coverage ratio was 65 percent in the January-April period of 2023, it increased to 73.3 percent in the January-April period of 2024.
