Foreign dependency in the construction sector is decreasing

Istanbul Teknik, Turkey's largest geogrid and asphalt chemicals producer, continues its activities to meet the needs of the construction industry and contribute to the country's industry with its 100 percent domestic capital and domestic production approach

Foreign dependency in the construction sector is decreasing

Established in 1998 with 100 percent domestic capital to meet the needs of the construction industry in which it operates and to contribute to the country's industry, Istanbul Teknik is changing the criteria in the field of building material production, sales and solution engineering. The company, which produces in its facilities equipped with modern technology, established on an area of 30,000 m² in Bolu, and whose products are used safely in 1000 points in the country, in 5 continents and 72 countries abroad; It continues its leadership as Turkey's largest geogrid and asphalt chemicals producer.

As Turkey's largest Geogrid producer, Istanbul Teknik dominates its sector with the motto "To improve life"; It also provides sales services to domestic and foreign markets in geosynthetics, asphalt chemicals, insulation products, green roof products and marble products.

Despite the pandemic, 30 percent growth in 2020 compared to the previous year

Underlining that they are the sector leaders in the field of geosynthetics and asphalt in terms of both volume and knowledge, Istanbul Teknik Chairman and General Manager Macit Tanyol says that they took steps that turned the process into a positive direction in 2021, which was in the shadow of the pandemic and shook the whole world economically and commercially. Macit Tanyol makes the following statements:

“Almost at the beginning of 2020, the whole world entered a difficult period. Despite the nearly breaking point of supply chains, travel restrictions and quarantine conditions, we have never lost our motivation. We were never complacent. We never slowed our pace. As Istanbul Teknik, we continued our production uninterruptedly in line with the measures we took in 2020, and we closed the year with a turnover of 173 million TL and a growth of 30 percent compared to 2019. In particular, our R&D studies on asphalt yielded the final results, and from 2019 to 2020, we exceeded our targets in asphalt and exports, and we succeeded in obtaining 20 percent of our turnover from exports. We also created a significant added value in employment; We have increased our employment by nearly 25% from 2019 to 2020, and by more than 50% in 2021 compared to 2019.

The main goal is to improve life

Stating that the basic principles of their success are the importance they attach to domestic production, as well as the principles of innovative, high quality and error-free product development, their competent engineering staff and sustainable improvement approaches in operational processes, Tanyol also gives information about their goals:

“As Istanbul Teknik, we believe that everyone can make a small contribution to improving the lives of all humanity with the work they do, the products they produce and the solutions they develop. We are trying to contribute as much as we can with our production and the work we do in our R&D center, and we will continue to work. Our motto "To Heal Life", which we adopted on the way, has now turned into a corporate promise for us. As we continue to grow rapidly, we will not give up on this promise. Our goal is to maintain the current market share. While we produced one last year in terms of volume, we will be producing three this year. Our sales from production are growing and will continue to grow. We are making great efforts to be one of the first 4 industrial establishments in Bolu, where our factory is located.“
