According to their report, Finnish stainless steel producer Outokumpu has begun exploring the possibility of increasing production in the US to meet the increasing demand for stainless steel. Outokumpu plans to increase its stainless steel cold rolled coil production capacity and gradually establish its own hot rolled mill in Calvert, Alabama.
Currently in the US, Outokumpu continues to supply stainless steel hot rolled products from an external party under an agreement valid until 2036. Seeing that the profitability of the business in the USA is constantly increasing, the company aims to increase the production capacity in Alabama mills as a solution.
