The Ministry of Trade restricted exports in 54 product groups. The restrictions will last until a ceasefire is declared in Gaza.
The Ministry of Trade said, "Türkiye has decided to restrict the export of certain products to Israel as of 9 April 2024. The requirements of the decision will be carried out immediately by the Ministry."
In the statement made by the Ministry, the following statements were used:
"Since 7 October 2023, the number of our Palestinian brothers and sisters who have lost their lives in the total massacre carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip for more than 6 months and indiscriminately against innocent Palestinian people and civilian settlements is over 33 thousand and the number of injured is over hundreds of thousands. The vast majority of them are women and children. The Gaza Strip has been razed to the ground and suffered a great destruction.
The Palestinian people trying to hold on to life in the Gaza Strip are struggling with hunger and all kinds of poverty, unprecedented in our age, and their access to the most basic foodstuffs, medical aid and supplies is prevented by Israel. Deaths from hunger are increasing and epidemics are spreading.
Since 7 October 2023, Türkiye has carried out political and diplomatic activities at the highest level both before the parties, in the international arena and within the Islamic world in order to stop the conflicts, to prevent humanitarian losses and physical destruction, to seek a permanent ceasefire and diplomatic solutions and to rebuild Gaza.
Türkiye rushed to the aid of Gaza and the people of Gaza after the Israeli attacks started and delivered tens of thousands of tonnes of aid, mainly food, health, medical aid and thousands of patient evacuations by ships and planes, and became one of the two leading countries in the world in this field.
Nevertheless, Israel continues to flagrantly violate international law and ignores the international community's numerous political and legal calls for a ceasefire and uninterrupted humanitarian assistance.
Unfortunately, Israel has not implemented any of the decisions taken by the United Nations Security Council, the UN General Assembly, the UN Human Rights Council and the International Court of Justice, which are the basic building blocks of international law and order."
