Fuat Tosyalı, President of the Mediterranean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (ADMIB), stated that they aim to exceed the 2021 performance. In August, Türkiye's ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector exported $1.1 billion, up 1.5 per cent, and the steel sector exported $1.4 billion, up 5.5 per cent. Germany was the biggest market with $ 190.1 million, followed by Italy and Romania with exports of $ 147.9 million and $ 127.5 million, respectively.
According to ADMIB data, iron and non-ferrous metals exports increased by 7.2 per cent compared to the same period last year to 64.7 million dollars, while steel exports reached 220.1 million dollars with an increase of 63 per cent. Italy was the biggest buyer with $31 million, followed by Egypt and Iraq with $25 million and $17 million, respectively. There were remarkable export increases especially in markets such as Ukraine, Italy, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
Fuat Tosyalı emphasised the uninterrupted growth in the steel sector and the positive momentum in the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector and said, ‘We had difficult times last year. This year we are in the process of recovery with new investments and increased production. Orders from Europe are uplifting. We aim to close the year in the best way possible and show a better performance next year,’ he said. Tosyalı added that they aim to achieve and exceed the highest performance in exports in 2021.
