The European Commission has extended anti-dumping duties on certain thicknesses of sheet imported from China. These duties have been in place since 2017 and were established following an investigation initiated by Eurofer, the European steel association.
Eurofer also asked the European Commission in November 2021 to reinvestigate and, if necessary, extend the tariffs. Their value is between 65.1-73.7% depending on the company.
The China Steel Industry Association (CISA) approached the European Commission with a proposal to abolish tariffs due to the shortage of thick sheet in Europe, the reduction of metallurgical capacities in the region and the decrease in the volume of imports from Russia and Ukraine.
The European Commission rejected CISA's request as unreasonable.
