The joint statement was attended by the European Metals Association (Eurometaux), the European Cement Association, Fertilizers Europe, European Aluminum and other units.
In the statement, it was pointed out that it is imperative to reach the EU's 2030 climate targets. However, the current global economic situation is weak, energy and inflation are high, and raw material supplies are insufficient. Moreover, current regulations and trade mechanisms make it difficult to know what to do.
2023-2025 is a transitional period. Importers are not yet required to pay CBAM duties. However, CBAM is predicted to affect the EU's competitiveness.
