EUROFER calls for tax on steel imports

In the first eight months, the EU's hot rolled coil (HRC) imports from Japan increased by 23.3 percent year on year to 740,000 tons. Moreover, the EU's HRC imports from South Korea, Taiwan and Japan in August accounted for 40% of the EU's total HRC imports.

The European Steel Association (EUROFER) urged the European Parliament to implement emergency measures for the high cost disadvantage. They noted that the EU's steel mills face a high energy cost.
