The value of steel products imported by EU countries from Russia reached EUR 368.7 million in May 2024, the highest since June 2022. In June 2022, this figure was EUR 495.8 million.
According to data from SteelRadar obtained from official sources, Russia exported EUR 373.12 million worth of steel products to the EU in May. This figure represents a 1.2% increase compared to the same month last year and a 29.3% increase compared to the previous month.
Imports in the January-May period of 2024 reached EUR 1,368.8 million.
Italy imported the most steel from Russia in May, at EUR 120 million. Italy's steel imports from Russia in May increased by 91.7% compared to the previous month. Belgium came in second place, importing EUR 80.4 million worth of steel. Belgium's imports decreased by 9.2% compared to the previous month.The Netherlands followed with EUR 78.5 million in imports.
The majority of the imports were semi-finished iron or non-alloy steel products EUR 175 million and ferro-alloys EUR 81 million.
