According to statistics, EU scrap imports from Ukraine amounted to nearly 54,000 tonnes in the first four months of this year, 15 times the volume in the same period a year earlier. The value of imports increased 2.8 times y-o-y to €16 million.
Among them, Poland was the largest importer of scrap from Ukraine, with around 50,000 tonnes, an increase of 155% compared to the previous year. The remaining 4,000 tonnes were imported by Greece, Germany, the Netherlands and Slovakia.
In April alone, the EU imported 15,600 tonnes of scrap from Ukraine, up 3.6% on the previous month and 120% on the previous year.
