In January-February 2024, the European Union, published the ‘Economic and steel market outlook 2024-2025, the second quarter’ in the review, steel exports in 2022 compared to 2023 steel exports decreased by 2%, and this decrease occurred in the same proportion in the January-February 2024 steel exports.
According to the review, compared to steel shipments, which increased by 9% yearly, it was observed that flat products and long products also increased by 9% year-on-year.
January February 2024 steel exports decreased in response to the decrease, steel imports to the EU for the same period increased by 4% compared to 2023, it was noted.

According to the EU review, it was stated that the shipment of long products also increased by 10% in 2023 compared to 2022; it was stated that flat products experienced a 7% decrease in shipments in 2023.
Sources reported that the main aspects of steel exports realized in the first quarter of 2024 were the United Kingdom with 249 thousand tons, Türkiye with 167 thousand tons, the United States with 142 thousand tons, Switzerland with 109 thousand tons and Ukraine with 35 thousand tons.
