EU quotas are running out fast! Stagnant demand for flat and long products

In the European Union (EU) quotas, countries rapidly consumed some of their quotas in the period between April 1 and June 30, 2025, while the use of some quotas followed a slow course.

EU quotas are running out fast! Stagnant demand for flat and long products

As of the beginning of April, a significant slowdown in European Union (EU) steel imports has been detected, particularly for flat and long products, which is attributed to both low domestic demand and limited vacancies in import quotas.

Türkiye ranks first in full capacity utilization

According to SteelRadar's weekly reports, Türkiye stands out with 100% of its 98,054 tons of wire rod quota, 83,949 tons of hollow sections quota, 14,931 tons of large welded tubes quota and 15,716 tons of organic coated sheets quota.

Among other countries, India used 53,636 tons of 4A metallic coated sheets quota, 78,591 tons of organic coated sheets quota and 31,733 tons of stainless bars and light sections quota, China used 128,220 tons of 4A metallic coated sheets quota and 4,915 tons of stainless HR quarto plates quota, while Taiwan used 46,029 tons of stainless HR quarto plates quota.

Imports of hot rolled coil (HRC) were down, which is likely to be affected by both the global demand contraction and the import restrictions in force.
