In September, the largest decrease on a monthly basis among EU member states occurred in Ireland by 10.7%, in Denmark by 5%, and in the Netherlands by 2.9%. On an annual basis for September 2024, Ireland recorded a decrease of 7.3%, Luxembourg 6.3%, and Hungary 5.3% in industrial production. The biggest increases recorded with Denmark by 7.8%, Belgium by 6%, and Lithuania by 3.5%.
Energy production in the European region increased by 1.5% m/m and 1.9% y/y in September. EU energy production decreased by 1.6% compared to the previous month and increased by 1.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The general decrease in industrial production in the EU in September took place in countries particularly pronounced in Ireland and Denmark. However, the increase in energy production indicates a contrast with some economic dynamics in the region. Thus, in addition to the factors affecting industrial production, fluctuations in energy markets should also be considered.
