Imports of semi-finished products by the European Union (EU) from Ukraine increased by 21.6% to 180.85 thousand tonnes in January-February 2024.
In terms of monetary value, these imports increased by 14,9 % to 92.77 million USD.
Significant changes were observed among the largest importing countries of the EU. Among the importing countries, Poland reduced its imports by 34,6% (53,65 thousand tonnes), while Bulgaria (68,3 thousand tonnes), Italy (18,94 thousand tonnes) and Greece (15,54 thousand tonnes) showed significant increases of 91,3%, 89,5% and 155%, respectively.
Imports continued to increase in February 2024, reaching 100,000 tonnes, up 8.9% m-o-m, but down 5.9% y-o-y. Import expenditures also fell by 15 % m-o-m and 7.3 % y-o-y to $52.29 million.
It should be noted that Ukraine increased its exports of semi-finished products to the EU in January-February 2024 by 3.4 times compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 364.16 thousand tonnes. Despite the decline in exports in December 2023, the overall trend remains positive.
