Overall, EU steel import quotas for the second quarter of 2023 are being filled rather slowly.
European importers show little interest in long-rolled products abroad. The volume of rebar quotas remained almost unchanged in April. The highest quota utilisation rate was observed for Moldovan products at 15%, while wire rod quotas were used at over 90%.
Better demand was observed for steel angles. Chinese quotas were fully utilised in the first few days of the second quarter. Quotas for Turkish products were utilised by 34%.
India's imports of hot rolled products resumed after the removal of export duty in November 2022. Quotas are used up by 23%. South Korea fulfils 38% of its quotas for HRC supplies and 22% for CRC.
