The Inflation Research Group (ENAG) announced the inflation figures for June. The ENAG Consumer Price Index (E-TÜFE) increased by 4.27% in June. The inflation increase for the last 12 months was 113.08%. In the first 6 months of 2024,
ENAG had announced the inflation rate for May as 5.66%. In May, the 12-month increase in the E-TÜFE was recorded as 120.66%.
When the TÜİK sub-groups were examined, the highest increase was in the "Clothing and footwear" item with 11.39%, while the lowest increase was observed in the health group with 0.00%.
Leading indicators also pointed to an increase in inflation in June. According to Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) data, the Istanbul Wage Earner Living Index, an indicator of retail price movements in Istanbul, increased by 3.42% in June compared to the previous month, while the Wholesale Goods Price Index, reflecting wholesale price movements, increased by 3.85%. On a yearly basis, the increase was 82.14% in retail and 60.49% in wholesale goods.
