The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) announced an increase in electricity retail prices, citing rising production and distribution costs. According to the new tariffs, which will be effective as of April 5, 2025, the industrial subscriber group will be increased by 10%.
The electricity price increase was determined as follows according to subscriber groups:
Residential subscriber group: 25%
Public and private services sector: 15%
Industrial subscriber group: 10%
Agricultural activities subscriber group: 12.4%
With the new regulation, the bill of a residential subscriber with a monthly electricity consumption of 100 kWh will increase to 259.04 TL.
Another development affecting the industrial sector was in natural gas tariffs. Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) increased natural gas prices for industrial subscribers by 20% on average. The price of natural gas supplied to electricity generation plants was raised by 24.2%.
This double increase in electricity and natural gas prices is expected to directly affect the costs of industrial organizations, especially those engaged in energy-intensive production. The new tariffs will enter into force on April 5, 2025.
