According to the statement made by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Samih Shukri met with Frans Timmermans, Vice President of the European Commission responsible for the European Green Deal, and his accompanying delegation, who visited Cairo.
In the joint statement published by Egypt and the EU Commission, it was stated that they agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of natural gas within the framework of finding an alternative to Russian gas.
"The two sides also agreed to increase cooperation in the field of liquefied natural gas and green hydrogen supply, and to develop the Mediterranean Green Hydrogen Partnership, which includes hydrogen trade between Europe, Africa and the Gulf countries," the statement said.
In the statement, which stated that the impact of the current geopolitical situation should not regress the desire for climate action, it was noted that they remained allied about not causing a narrowing of the financial space to be offered to developing countries.
