Devki Steel Mills has invested 50 billion shillings to build a crude steel plant in the Samburu-Chengoni district.
The mill, which uses iron ore for steel production, has the most advanced production facilities in Kenya and is the only one in Africa that uses iron ore. The plant has an annual crude steel production capacity of 500,000 tons and uses blast furnace technology, internal power generation, and a national grid supply to reduce electricity costs.
