Türkiye's imported scrap prices have increased, reaching $380/t CFR Türkiye for HMS 80:20 and $400/t CFR Türkiye for bonus scrap, driven by rising collection costs, the strengthening of the Euro against the US dollar, and additional tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on steel and aluminum. However, Turkish steel producers remain cautious due to weak final steel demand. Despite this, some purchases have been made, reflecting ongoing stock replenishment demand. Turkish buyers are reportedly still continuing with shipments for April, while a few buyers have started arranging shipments for May.
Significant price movements were observed in scrap trading transactions last week. An agreement from the US to the Mediterranean region saw HMS 80:20 scrap sold at $380/t, while another US scrap seller sold 95:5 + Shred scrap at an average price of $395/t to the Mediterranean.
From the UK to the Aegean region, HMS 80:20 scrap was priced at $378/t, while in Germany, the same quality scrap was priced at $373/t for the Aegean region.
