According to the steel export data announced by the Mexican Institute of Statistics and Geography, it closed last year with a revenue of $ 6.19 billion, an increase of 14%.
The export of coated flat products increased to the level of $ 1.2 billion and accounted for 17% of the exports made in 2022.
Hot-rolled steel, on the other hand, increased by 49.9% to $ 871 million in 2022 compared to the previous year's data. Exports of logs and slabs, on the other hand, fell by about 25%. Rod exports accounted for a 10% slice of exports with $694 million. Other iron and steel products and profiles accounted for 7.6% of the exports and reached $ 532 million.
According to the data announced by the Mexican Iron and Steel Association the other day, Mexico's liquid steel and final product consumption was recorded as 200,000 mt with an increase of 8.8% in January 2023.
Total liquid steel production decreased by 102,000 mt or 6.6% year-on-year to 1.44 million mt, while final product production increased by 141,000 mt or 9.3% year-on-year to 1.66 million mt.
