Critical points of global trade! The world's most active ports

In a recent report by SteelRadar, the world’s most active ports have been ranked, shedding light on the bustling hubs that drive global trade. The ranking, based on an index measuring port activity, highlights the critical nodes in the international shipping network.

Topping the list is Yangshan Port in China, with an impressive index score of 177.90. Following closely are Salalah in Oman and Tanger-Mediterranean in Morocco, with index scores of 164.72 and 159.56, respectively. These ports are pivotal in facilitating the flow of goods across continents, underscoring their strategic importance in global logistics.

The report also features a world map pinpointing the locations of these top ports, providing a visual representation of their geographical distribution. Notably, Asia dominates the list with multiple entries, including ports in China, Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea. This highlights the region's significant role in global trade.

Omani Ports and European Partnerships

A unique aspect of Omani ports is their operation under European management in a 50-50 partnership. For instance, Sohar Port is managed by Rotterdam Terminal of the Netherlands, Salalah Port by APM Denmark Terminal, and Doqm Port by Antwerp Belgium Terminal. The involvement of Europe's leading operators ensures that these ports maintain high standards of efficiency and competitiveness, leaving little room for contention about their performance and management.

Other notable ports include Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia, Cartagena in Colombia, and Yokohama in Japan, each with index scores above 150. These ports are essential gateways for their respective regions, handling vast volumes of cargo and contributing to economic growth.
