During the meeting, Putin briefed President Xi about the historical dimensions of the Ukraine problem, Russia's stance on the special military operation in eastern Ukraine, and the situation in the region.

Stating that the United States and NATO have long ignored Russia's reasonable security concerns, refused to fulfill its commitments, and continue to expand eastward, threatening Russia's strategic red lines, Putin stated that they are ready for high-level negotiations with Ukraine.
