According to Corendon Airlines’ statement, staff shortage, which is the main issue of many airports in Europe, particularly at the airports in Germany, caused major setbacks for airport operations.
Many airlines had to cancel some of their seasonal flights due to the busy air traffic problem as well as the over-density and lack of service owing to staff shortage.
-Many passengers had to cancel their flights themselves.
Airlines were preparing to have a busy season after the end of the restrictions that made travel difficult and even brought it to a standstill for a long time due to Covid-19.
However, the aviation industry had to deal with the aftershocks of the epidemic this time.
Since the airline companies, which parted ways with a large number of staff during the epidemic, had difficulties in finding staff while entering the peak season. Many problems such as long waiting times, slow check-in processes, passenger baggage problems at international airports and warning strikes initiated by union members left both passengers and airlines in a difficult position.
In fact, many passengers had to cancel their flights themselves due to the problems at the airports.
-“We are sincerely sorry for the negative experience of our passengers”
Corendon Airlines Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Yıldıray Karaer stated:
“First of all, we were very excited that people who could not take a vacation during the pandemic would have the vacation they missed as of this season. We entered the season with a busy flight schedule as a result of the satisfying reservations we received. Yet, we had to cancel some of our planned flights due to the lack of service, particularly at the European airports we often fly to. Although we tried to keep the number of canceled flights as low as possible, we canceled 15% of our August, September and October flights on touristic lines, and 25% on ethnic lines. As many other airlines, we, Corendon Airlines, are sincerely sorry for the negative experience of our passengers who have been aggrieved due to the problems we have encountered recently."
Karaer stated they hope that the aviation industry, which is experiencing an extraordinary operational problem, will recover as soon as possible: “Through this difficult time, we will try to offer alternatives so that our passengers do not miss their long-awaited holiday. We are deeply sorry for the inconveniences reflected on our passengers due to reasons beyond our control. We are working very hard with our entire team to offer the best solutions so that our passengers are affected as little as possible by these adverse conditions.”
Corendon Airlines gives its passengers whose flights are canceled the right to book a new flight 7 days before or after their flight, free of charge.
