According to the results of the consumer tendency survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute ( TUIK) and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye, consumer confidence index showed a notable decrease in August. The index, which was 80.1 in July, decreased by 15.1 percent to 68.0 in August.
Among the sub-indices, the financial situation of the household in the current period decreased by 12.9 percent to 56.2, the expectation of the financial situation of the household in the next 12 months decreased by 19.6 percent to 63.7, the expectation of the general economic situation in the next 12 months decreased by 23.2 percent to 63.1 and the idea of spending on durable goods in the next 12 months decreased by 5.7 percent to 89.
