In the January-September period of 2024, production increased in 8 sub-sectors compared to the same period of the previous year, while a decline in production was observed in 14 sub-sectors.
The report, prepared monthly by the Turkish Construction Materials Industrialists Association (Türkiye İMSAD), stated that targets were set in areas related to the construction sector and the construction materials industry with the announcement of the medium-term program for the 2025-2027 period. While previous programs focused on areas such as infrastructure, advanced cities, and urban transformation, the new program prioritizes disaster management.
The report emphasizes that the program aims to provide the necessary financing to increase the resilience of settlements and society to disasters, reduce disaster risks and damages, minimize casualties and property losses, and ensure the effective implementation of disaster management.
The new medium-term program states that efforts will continue to compensate for the damage caused by the earthquakes in February 2023 and take necessary measures to reduce disaster risks. In this context, the program aims to ensure access to adequate, safe, and inclusive housing. The acceleration of urban renewal projects in collaboration with local governments, especially in Istanbul, is planned. Furthermore, efforts will continue to address the renewal of the vulnerable building stock in cities like Istanbul, taking into account the expectations of stakeholders and the dynamics of the transformation areas.
The program also emphasizes social housing production, stating that infrastructure and superstructure facilities will be planned and constructed for inclusive, healthy, safe, and resilient living spaces, prioritizing areas with high disaster risk.
