The 2023 steel production figures in the Middle East once again highlighted the strong competition within the industry. Iran-based Mobarakeh Steel Company maintained its leadership with 10.33 million tons of production, while Türkiye’s Erdemir Group ranked second with 7.18 million tons. However, Erdemir's 7.8% decline in production drew attention. In contrast, Tosyalı Holding achieved the fastest growth of the year, increasing its production by 25.5% to 5.91 million tons.
On the other hand, Egypt’s Ezz Steel achieved a 19.8% growth, reaching 6.17 million tons, while Saudi Arabia’s Hadeed and the UAE’s Emirates Steel showed a more stable performance. Another major player from Turkey, Habaş, recorded a 2.9% increase in production, reaching 3.92 million tons and maintaining its stability.
Overall, Iran and Turkey have maintained their leadership in the region, while companies like Tosyalı Holding continue to increase their production. This trend indicates that investments in technology and efficiency will play a key role in reshaping the future of the Middle East steel industry.
