US company Commerical Metals Company announced that it will build a new micro steel plant in Mesa, Arizona. The company will start construction of the micro plant in early 2023.
This first plant in North America, called Triple M, will be the world's first to produce commercial bar-quality products using continuous production technology.
According to CMC's announcement, the new facility is expected to generate US$50 million in additional revenues and will replace existing rebar production capacity at higher costs so that the company can meet the steel needs of the West Coast.
The new plant will utilize a state-of-the-art EAF power system supplied by Danieli, as well as Q-One technology that will enable the company to directly connect electric furnaces and ladle furnaces to renewable energy. Together with continuous steelmaking technology, CMC will become one of the most efficient steel producers in the world.
