Coal production in the Russian Federation in January-July 2024 decreased by 1.2% compared to the same period last year, to 243 million tons.
Coal production amounted to 191 million tons (-2.1%), including anthracite - 12.5 million tons (-19.4%). Coking coal production increased by 8.3%, to 64.9 million tons. Other coal production amounted to 113 million tons (-5%).
Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergei Mochalnikov, in a conversation with journalists in mid-April, noted a slight decrease in coal exports from the Russian Federation in the first quarter of 2024. "We have some restrictions in logistics (to the Eastern Polygon), and today there are price rallies that are unclear when they will end. Considering that the Eastern Polygon is limited, we are forced to transport Russian coal products through the ports of the Azov-Black Sea Basin (Azov-Black Sea Basin - IF) and the ports of the North-West," he explained.
