Chinese automotive manufacturer Chery decides to invest in Türkiye for electric vehicle production

It was reported that the factory, which will have an annual production capacity of 200 thousand vehicles in the facilities to be established in Samsun, will produce electric vehicle-parts, have a total budget of USD 1 billion  and will employ more than 5 thousand people. It was emphasized that with the launch of Chery's production facility in Türkiye, the demand for high-strength and galvanized steel required for the automotive sector will increase and this development may create an important market opportunity for Turkish steel producers.

It was stated that a large portion of the steel to be used in the production of electric vehicles could be supplied by domestic producers, which would allow Türkiye to export more in the automotive sector. It was also stated that Chery will bring innovative solutions to the supply chain with this investment, while domestic steel producers are expected to increase their capacity to produce special steel for the automotive sector.
