China’s rebar production reached about 15.3 million tons in September, a significant 22% increase from the previous month. However, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), this figure represents a 17% decrease compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, China’s wire rod production decreased by 2.5% y-o-y to about 11.7 million tons. Welded pipe production decreased by 8% to about 5.4 million tons.
In January-September 2024, China’s total rebar production was about 145 million tons, a 16% decrease compared to the previous year. During this period, wire rod production decreased by 4.2% to approximately 100.3 million tons, while welded pipe production decreased by 9% compared to the previous year, falling to 44 million tons.
