At the end of May this year (May 21-31), the total daily average crude steel production of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China was 2.0954 million tonnes, down 6.68% compared with the middle of May this year (May 11-20).
In mid-May this year, the total daily average crude steel production of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China was 2.2455 million tonnes, down 0.24% compared with the beginning of May this year (May 1-10).
Inventory levels in China's steel market decreased on 31 May. The ending steel stocks of large and medium-sized steel companies in China amounted to 15.6207 million tonnes, down 3.96% from 20 May.
As of May 31, rebar futures prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange were at CNY3,463/metric tonne ($488/tonne), down CNY182/tonne ($25.6/tonne), or 5.0%, from May 19.
Steel prices decreased at the end of May due to sluggish demand.
