China's Ministry of Commerce announced that it will conduct a second anti-dumping investigation into imports of semi-finished, thin and thick rolled stainless steel products from Japan, in line with the recommendations of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
In 2018 and 2019, China conducted an investigation into imports of these semi-finished, thin and thick rolled stainless steel products from the EU, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia. As a result of the investigation, it was decided to impose anti-dumping duty on stainless steel for the EU and three countries.
Taxes were 29% for most Japanese companies, but 18.1% for Nippon Yakin Kogyo. However, in 2021, Japanese metallurgical experts objected to these sanctions at the World Trade Organization. In June 2023, the Dispute Resolution Board (DSB) approved his claims.
