Japarov highlighted the positive progress of the project. He noted that in February of this year, a pivotal trilateral meeting took place in Beijing, involving experts from the concerned nations and a delegation from the Chinese Railways Company.
Japarov and Tuniaz discussed the most important issues related to the work of checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Chinese state border.
Expressing appreciation to the Chinese authorities, Japarov acknowledged their decision to extend the operating hours of the Erkeshtam and Torugart checkpoints to a 7-day, 14-hour work schedule until June 30, 2024.
Moreover, the successful execution of significant projects, including the construction of the Friendship Bridge between Kyrgyzstan and China and a belt conveyor with a coal base near the Erkeshtam checkpoint, was emphasized.
Japarov underscored the importance of initiatives such as the opening of the new Bedel checkpoint and the ongoing construction of the Barskoon-Uqturpan-Aksu automobile road. He emphasized the strategic significance of trade and economic collaboration with Xinjiang, describing the region as a vital gateway to China for Kyrgyzstan.
The 454 km long China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is designed to link the railway systems of China and Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan and eventually connect to the European railway network via Turkmenistan, Iran and Türkiye.
