Von der Leyen said that the EU has sent 35 million LED bulbs to Ukraine so far, which will soon increase to 50 million, adding, "50 million LED bulbs means savings equivalent to the electricity production of a nuclear reactor."
Explaining that they also discussed energy supply security at the meeting, von der Leyen said that generators are of utmost importance in the current situation for the provision of electricity in Ukraine.
"It was decided to deliver 5,400 generators to Ukraine," von der Leyen said.
EU has so far provided Ukraine with 50 billion euros
Recalling that the electricity grids of Ukraine and the EU were connected with the beginning of the war, von der Leyen said, "Ukraine needs electricity. We will provide you with the 2 gigawatts of electricity you need."
Von der Leyen pointed out the importance of Ukraine making salaries and social payments for the continuation of state function, adding that the EU has provided Ukraine with 50 billion euros so far."
Explaining that they will give Ukraine 18 billion euros as a budget support in the form of regular monthly payments, von der Leyen said that they will also extend the program for the duty-free entry of Ukrainian products into the EU market.
New sanctions on Russia
Von der Leyen, emphasizing that the Russian economy has paid a high price due to the sanctions imposed, said, "The 10th sanctions package is coming. We aim to implement this package by February 24."
Stating that the 10th sanctions package will have a scope of about 10 billion euros, von der Leyen said, "A big sanctions package is being prepared again. The plan is to once again focus on technologies that Russia can use in war."
On der Leyen pointed out that they will also focus intensively on circumventing or circumventing sanctions, adding, "The 10th sanctions package will include proposals to combat circumvention of sanctions."
The EU has so far implemented 9 packages of sanctions against Russia due to the war.
The sanctions against Russia extend to a wide range of products, including trade, finance, industry, technology, transportation, dual-use and luxury goods.
In addition, crude oil transported by sea and some petroleum products, with the removal of some Russian banks from the international payment system SWIFT, numerous individuals and organizations are on the EU sanctions lists.
