Within the scope of combating climate change, South Korea aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent below the 2018 values in 10 years.
President Moon Jae-in emphasized that this figure is the "most ambitious" target that can be set under the current conditions, while promising to make stronger contributions to the fight against global warming ahead of the United Nations Climate Summit to be held in Scotland in November.
South Korea aims to zero its carbon emissions by 2050.
